Happy Halloween!

I have always been a fan of the events that lead up to Halloween.  Bryn is beginning the fun stage of making this holiday so much more fun!  We went to a pumpkin patch, Florida style!  This means that pumpkins are cut and placed in parking lots or empty lots for people to choose from.  Luckily, the one by our house had a few extra decorations too!

Telling me the letters on the sign.  She actually knows about 9 letters!

Telling her dad which pumpkin she wanted...but she was drawn to the bumpy ones!

Photo op!  Not enjoying the hay...

We waited a few days to carve our pumpkin!

Bryn is starting to show her Flanagan OCD tendencies...
she was not a huge fan of pumpkin guts on her hands
She was very intent on her dad carving the pumpkin.

 Happy with the final results.

We used her hand to paint a ghost on the pumpkin with paint and glow in the dark glitter.

We carved our pumpkin only 3 days before Halloween, but it was still too early for
the Florida heat!  It has even been cooler here, but our pumpkin was too rotten to
put out on Halloween night.  Oh well, it was fun for a few days!

We went to a mommy and me Halloween party at MyGym.  Bryn got to
wear her costume for the first time...she is a brown dog - Marley!
She also learned what it really meant to go trick-or-treating.
Very excited about what is in her bag!
And, as always, having fun on all the slides and equipment!

Halloween night was a little colder, so we had to adjust her costume!
 My two dogs
They both seem to have the same expression!
 Adoring each other!

Hope everyone had a safe and Happy Halloween!!

Visiting the Phelps Family

Bryn and I decided to take a fall trip while Brian headed to Tallahassee for a FSU football game.  Since my friend Kelli and her family had just returned to the states from Japan, visiting her near Richmond, VA was #1 on the list!  We were there for four days and yet I never took a picture of me and Kelli....but I did get a few of our kids together!

Bryn and Matthew snuggled in together playing with the IPad.  Bryn introduced him to MyPlayHome, which was a hit for the trip!  Bryn loved on Matthew and was interested in where he was and what he was doing.  He was very good to her!
Claire and Bryn gawking at something....a few times Bryn would bring a book
over to Claire and read by her.  Claire tolerated my two year old well!
Bryn and Ella playing the piano.  Bryn loved plunking on the keys at the Phelps house, filling it with such beautiful music :)  Ella was sweet with Bryn!
We decided to explore the town and campus around VCU.  After lunch, Bryn convinced Ella and Matthew to do some "1,2,3 - JUMPS" off the bench.  Here's the takeoff...

the jump...
and the landing!

Thank you Phelps family for a WONDERFUL visit.  We hope to see you again soon!

Fizzing Colors

Bryn and I try to do different activities each week.  I found this idea on Pinterest and tried it the next day.  With a pan of baking soda, vinegar dyed with food coloring, and and eye dropper (and a paint shirt) we sat down to make some chemical reactions.....or just colored, fizzing bubbles.

Bryn had a little trouble understanding when to squeeze the top and when to let go.
This was about 30 minutes of fizzing bubbles!
The finished product!  If you can't find fall colors outside...put them in a bowl!
